Director's Note

Live theater is a community celebration. The Audience comes, and, for an hour or two, they leave behind the callings of their professional and personal lives to take a journey of imagination. The intimacy shared by the performers and the audience is unique and can never be duplicated.

Yiddish Theater married this experience with the rich traditions of the Jewish people. It offered the audience an informal opportunity to celebrate their heritage, understand their traditions, and even find some humor in the the situations that confronted the Jewish people in Eastern Europe and around the world. This secured the Yiddish Theater a place in the history of modern theater.
